Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 9, 2026

The individual operator (the "Operator") running "Freeit" (the "Service") complies with South Korea's Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable laws, and has established and published this Privacy Policy to safely handle users' personal information. This English version is provided for convenience; the Korean version is the governing text.

1. Personal Information Collected and Collection Methods

While browsing the Service as a guest before signing in, we do not collect personal information that identifies you, such as your email address or nickname. Food items you add as a guest are not sent to our servers and are stored only temporarily on your device; this data is transferred to your account once you sign in. However, access logs and other automatically collected information may still be generated even while browsing as a guest (see "Automatically Collected Information" below).

When You Sign Up or Sign In

Email address (for email sign-in, Google sign-in, or Apple sign-in)
Nickname (set by the user)
When signing in with a Google or Apple account, the account identifier and email address provided by that service

While Using the Service

Food information you register in your fridge (name, category, expiration date, memo, etc.) — visible only to you and members of the same shared space (fridge); the Operator does not individually view this information.
Master food data managed by administrators — food name, representative image, default expiration period, and other reference information visible to all users.

Photos you take or attach for food/receipt recognition (AI analysis) are transmitted only temporarily for processing and are not stored or retained by the Service.

Automatically Collected Information

Access logs, service usage records, device information (operating system, browser, etc.)
Approximate country of access, inferred from IP address (no precise location or GPS data is collected)

Information for Advertising (Optional, App Users Only)

Advertising identifier (e.g. IDFA) — collected only if you consent to iOS's "App Tracking Transparency" permission request, and used to show personalized ads. Declining has no effect on your ability to use the Service; non-personalized ads are shown instead.

Collection method: information you enter directly during sign-up and while using the Service, information provided through social sign-in integration such as Google or Apple, or information collected automatically from your device if you consent to app tracking permission.

2. Purposes of Collection and Use

Member identification and providing the sign-in service
Providing the feature that lets you share a fridge (space) with family members and others
Providing automatic food registration via photo/receipt recognition (AI analysis)
Providing expiration date guidance and other service features
Managing usage limits according to your plan (Free/Plus/Plus AI) — tallying monthly AI analysis and receipt recognition usage — and processing paid subscription payments
Serving ads to free-tier users (including personalized ads where consented)
Preventing fraudulent use of the Service and responding to inquiries

3. Retention and Use Period

As a rule, personal information is destroyed immediately upon account withdrawal or termination of service use. However, where retention is required under applicable law, the information is retained for the period specified by that law.

4. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The Operator does not, in principle, provide your personal information to external parties. However, within a shared space (fridge) you participate in, the food information and nickname you register are shared with other members of that same space.

5. Outsourcing of Processing and Overseas Transfer

We use the following external services to provide the Service, and your information listed below may be transferred overseas and processed in the course of that use.

Each of the above providers processes information in accordance with its own privacy policy, and only the minimum information necessary to provide the Service is shared with them.

6. User Rights and How to Exercise Them

You may view or edit your personal information, such as your nickname, at any time from the in-app settings screen, and you may request account withdrawal (account deletion). Inquiries regarding personal information may be directed to the contact below.

7. Destruction of Personal Information

When the purpose of retaining personal information has been achieved, such as upon account withdrawal, the information is destroyed without delay. Information in electronic file form is permanently deleted using methods that prevent recovery.

8. Measures to Protect Personal Information

Encrypted storage of authentication credentials such as passwords
Access control so that only members of a shared space (fridge) can view that space's information
Separation of privileges so that only accounts with administrator rights can manage shared (master) data
The Operator does not individually view the personal food information (names, memos, etc.) you register, except where unavoidable, such as when responding to a service failure

10. Duty to Notify

If this Privacy Policy is added to, deleted, or amended, notice will be given through an in-service announcement or similar means starting at least 7 days before the change takes effect.
